ENABLE 1
MAY 2004
“A movement will be serious about Evangelism when it focuses both on Evangelism and models Evangelism.” (Jason Lane, Director of Innovista).

I am delighted to offer to you, as a Contagious Christian trainer, the new resource “Enable” that will come every two months, to motivate, refresh, train and provide a network on an ongoing basis. In my work with students I have always valued new insights, encouragement and stories to enthuse my ministry. Hopefully this will be useful to you. I am looking forward to hear your feedback on it: Enjoy!

ENABLING YOU WITH STORIES
The impact of Contagious Christian training at the IFES Student Evangelism Conference in Györ (Hungary).
“I've really learnt a lot of things; the first one is that I should take the first step, not the person in front of me. I should go to them and try to break the walls they have built all their lives. I have also learnt that I should be what I am, as natural as possible. I should show them that I am a normal person, I'm not that strange; I have my interests, my everything, like listening to music; I am funny I like jokes and so on. I have learnt what is my style. What kind of a person am I and how can I work with my friends.” (Mina, Bulgarian student).
ENABLING YOU TO BE CHALLENGED
Are you currently involved in significant friendships with non-Christians? Who are they? If you are not currently involved in friendships with non-Christians, start praying for one!
ENABLING YOU TO BE TRAINED
Leadership and Evangelism, what does it bring?
• Ownership of responsibility: Leaders that will look themselves into the mirror and will say: “Ultimately I am responsible”.
• Modelling evangelistic values: Leaders not only speak about Evangelism; they do Evangelism. Students are tired of empty words. As leaders, we have to be a model. We have to be in touch with non-Christian people. We have to be able to say: “do what I do”. Spending time with non-Christian friends takes time; but if we want to see a significant change in Evangelism it means that we need to spend time doing Evangelism.
Also our heart softens when we spend time with our non-Christian friends. It stops being something theoretical. When we spend time with our non-Christians friends it is impossible not to feel compassionate. This is going to impact greatly when we try to persuade students to take this path. They will understand that we are taking them to something we are living and practicing on a daily basis. We just have to be able to say: “I am doing this with you”.
