Evangelism Resources
We believe that Jesus commission to go and make disciples of all nations is a call for all Christians to be involved in evangelism. More than that though we see evangelism as the start of the process of making disciples rather than as a stand-alone activity. Therefore we are not so much interested in ‘numbers’ of converts as in the ‘substance’ of people who come to know Jesus Christ through the activities of IFES students and graduates.
We firmly believe that this work is God’s task to the whole church, and we see our role within this as providing very specific training to students and young graduates as they seek to learn how to convey the good news of Jesus in the immediate context of their study or work. It is our hope that in this the church across our continent is blessed with the fruit of IFES work!
We understand Evangelism to take a number of forms, from public proclamation, to incidental presentation through the arts. We hope to help you in every single different style of evangelism. We also believe that Jesus gives us gifts to tell others about Him which are suited to who we are as people made in His likeness, so we long to see Christians find the most natural way to make conversation about Jesus with non-believers part of their daily existence.
Of course we also see clearly from the Bible that the conversations we have about Jesus need to be backed up by two things in order for them to have credibility: first they need to be backed up by God’s word – in which He reveals Himself (this is why we have for years loved Evangelistic Bible Study as a way of ‘telling’ others about Jesus); and second by lives which draw others to glorify God and which support the bold claims we make as followers of the Son of God.
On this site we’re going to be making a collection of resources and ideas for evangelism among students, we also have a forum where you can give us your ideas.

22 Jul 2008 - 13:27 — by IFES EuropeThe importance of a biblical foundation
The aim of this part is to show that evangelism is not an initiative of people or an additive of human philosophy to the bible. Mission is a central theme in the whole bible. We shall see that mission is not only an interference in someone else’s life, but a plan of God in accordance with His word. Mission is the will of God!!! Without the bible there will be no Christian mission.
